West Nipissing Snowmobile Club
West Nipissing Snowmobile Club was formed back in the early 80’s when a small group of people gathered together to build trails for their beloved sport-snowmobiling. In January 1982, Raymond Brouillette was elected president. Mr Osias Godin, was responsible to incorporate the club. There was a rep for each region in the WNSC territory.
Always at the mercy of Mother Nature each year as to when the snowmobile trails will be opened. We can guarantee they will not be opened until they are safe for all riders.
The Club has been blessed with dedicated volunteers who love the sport, many grooming trails with their own sleds in the early days. In the late 80s, Clement Rainville operated a John Deere compact tractor on half tracks to groom the trails (no cab!). The tractor was graciously offered by R.L. Equipment to help with equipment needs. In 1995, R.L. Equipment and the club organized their first big fundraiser, the Coconut Run, under the leadership of former President Armand Levac. In later years, Gerry Marcoux was much involved with the NNTA and obtaining funding for the WNSC to get it’s first Gilbert groomers.
The club today is an integral part of District 11, with their Top D former railbed trail connecting North Bay to Sudbury, local connections to Verner and Sturgeon Falls, as well as being a part of the Ride Around Nipissing (RAN) Tour. West Nipissing SC will operate a new Prinoth Husky and John Deere tractor for the 2024 season! With many significant infrastructure upgrades in recent years, the WNSC, is ensuring trail sustainability and connectivity for future sledders.
