Near North Snowdrifters
In the fall of 1991, a new snowmobile club was formed when a public meeting took place resulting from the absence of a trail link between Almaguin Club and the South Shore Club. The Near North Snowdrifters was formed by 34 members and countless volunteers. Many years later we have over 700 permit buyers, operate 2 industrial groomers and have just over 185 km of trails in our club territory.
The Almaguin Highlands are home to some of District 11’s best trails. Inumerable scenic landscapes, chance encounters with the areas wildlife and frozen lakes are just some of the highlights of the Near North Snowdrifters trails. Visitors to the area can find ammenities in town to stay the night, or find a bite to eat.
For those trailering to the area, snowmobile truck and trailer parking is provided by the Village of South River at Tom Thompson Park and on Hwy 124 between the South River Brewing Co. and Coldwell Banker. Both locations are kept plowed through the winter months.
